Understanding English orthography – implications for teaching phonics and spelling across all year levels

This day will focus on helping teachers understand that English spelling makes sense! We will see that English spelling integrates morphology, etymology, and phonology to link spelling and meaning. As a result, orthographic inquiry not only advances phonics and spelling but also comprehension and critical thinking. (A list of readings and research will be provided.)
